Sindh Education Foundation Hold’s 2nd Appreciation Ceremony

The Sindh Education Foundation; is one of the major stakeholder on the education landscape of the country. It is an organization of the Government of Sindh and it handles the education portfolio through Public Private Partnerships. It completed its 25th year in 2017 and by this time its overall enrollments went up to 550,000 students. In terms of reach out, in last three years it has grown by 112% which is a significant expansion given the fact that large part of Foundation schools is located in under privileged areas of Sindh.
The Foundation as a part of its strategy believes in putting “students” at the center of policy and implementation. It is believed that “strengthening students’ outcomes” is the gateway to country’s progress. It is in this background that the Foundation accords importance to encouraging student achievements and the first students’ and teachers’ Appreciation Event was organized in 2015. These Appreciation Events are aimed at encouraging the performance of students who perform well in the annual Assessments undertaken by the Foundation through third party. Simultaneously, the Foundation regularly assess the partner school teachers to evaluate the overall competencies for ensuring minimum quality of education in schools.
The Sindh Education Foundation organized the 2nd Appreciation Award 2017 for honoring 264 students and 93 teachers. It is planned to be held in two segments i.e one event in Sukkur to honor the high achievers from northern districts and another in Hyderabad to honor the high achievers from the southern districts. The selection of the students is purely based on merit i.e the results attained in the annual Assessment 2017.
In order to encourage the students, the Foundation is providing computer tablets to the high achieving students and laptops to the high performing teachers of the SEF in the “2nd Appreciation Ceremony” held at the Auditorium of University of IBA Sukkur. The Minister Education & Literacy, Jam Mahtab Dahar distributed the awards and the certificates.
The ceremony was attended by the academia; officers; educations including vice chancellors; students; parents and teachers and officers of Sindh Education Foundation. The Managing Director SEF, Ms Naheed Shah Durrani, welcomed the participants and gave a brief overview of SEF’s achievements. The ceremony included glimpses of SEF’s performances through talks of SEF partners; performances of students and show casing of its documentary. A brief of the SEF’s quality assurance framework and Assessment system was also provided by the SEF Acting Director Training & Assessment, Ms. Shahpara Rizvi.
The Minister Education and literacy Jam Mehtab Dahar, congratulating the students and the teachers and appreciated the work done by the Foundation. He highlighted the on -going reforms of Government of Sindh in the Education Sector with special reference to the School Rehabilitation; School Consolidation; appointment of teachers on merit etc. He stated that Foundation has been given the target to raise enrolments through Public Private Partnerships. He praised the efforts of the students, teachers and SEF Partners and urged them to continue to pursue excellence and keep up the good work.
